Oily Skin Foundation…Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation

…..could it be?? I actually found a foundation that will cover all the marks I want to cover, matches my skin tone (!!!!), and doesn’t slide off my skin after a few hours?? Pinch me, please.

Let me tell you a little about my skin…I am VERYYY oily and often times have some discoloration on my skin due to breakouts. I have an extremely difficult time finding foundations that match my skin tone but still give me the coverage I want/need. Most of the time I find one I can deal with but if I touch my face in the slightest, the oil from my skin just makes the foundation sliiiiide right off.

Lately, I had been using the  Wet ‘n Wild Photo Focus foundation. I discovered this maybe a month or two ago and loved it! It’s so creamy, matches my skin, and has decent, buildable coverage. With fake tan, I was in the color Soft Beige. As I mentioned, I reeeeally struggle with finding a foundation that matches my skin perfectly. They are either too light, too dark, or too PINK! Ugh, horrible. Buuuuut, when I got to Walgreens (my favorite place ever), the Wet ‘n Wild foundation was no where to be found! So, I went down the road to the other, bigger Walgreens. They STILL didn’t have it! I was really in a pickle. I needed foundation ASAP and really didn’t have any backups in mind. On a whim I picked up the Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir foundation in Classic Ivory. [Side note: the shade range was very unimpressive]

I got home and tried it out to see if the shade matched. It was a little dark but my fake tan was also fading. I thought with a fresh layer of fake tan, it would be the perfect match the next morning. Spoiler alert: it was.

So, this foundation. Initially I was a little skeptical because I had not heard much about the foundation at all and the shade range is kinda limited. But, I was pleasantly surprised! It applies very creamy and with a medium-full coverage. You can also build the foundation up nicely without it looking cakey. The only con I have to mention is the scent. There is a very strong scent to it. It’s not bad, just very strong. I think I have gotten used to it by now because I don’t notice the scent as much.

I have used this foundation every day since I got it about a week ago. I have never used it with a primer and just set it with some pressed powder in the morning and go about my day. Y’all are not going to believe this but, I never have to reset my foundation throughout the day. I mean whaaaaaaat?!?! This is unheard of for me. At the end of the day, my foundation still looks really great! I mean, I am a little shiny in areas but I can tolerate that.

If you’re like me and you struggle with oily skin and are unable to successfully find shade matches, try this foundation out! I am pretty fair but use fake tan to add a little color to my skin.

On an unrelated note, I have recently become obsessed with Mexican hot chocolate. Its so spicy and yummy but I also require coffee in order to become a human. This morning I had the genius idea to add a triangle of the Mexican chocolate in with my coffee. oh myyyy its delish. Try it. You will love it.

Also, its like way too cold up here in Illinois. My southern roots cannot handle this cold. Nor do I know how to drive in this snow.
